Why steel?
In a world of carbon fibre & Aluminium, Steel still offers
the most durable material for competition use offering outstanding
qualities. High lateral stiffness for that starting effort
is a must. Steel allows for manufacturing in unlimited sizes
by the specialist builder & will last longer.
In the unfortunate event of an accident your steel frame
can normally be repaired without the need to replace the complete
frame.
Manufacture
Each frame set is constructed using selected tubes from Reynolds
and Columbus and takes 14 – 16 hours to produce.
MDT’s frames are constructed using lugless construction.
With our smooth lugless joints the final product has a seamless
finish, giving our frames unrivalled quality.
Reynolds 853 offers high strength to weight with a tensile
strength of 120tons providing excellent lateral stiffness
allowing for fast acceleration with no power loss.
Materials
Details like our own design 6mm Stainless steel plate dropouts
not only look elegant but also offer longer life with no damage
caused from doing up & undoing track nuts.
Our Reynolds 753 heat treated aero fork blades we believe
to be the most aerodynamic available with there 9.5mm cross
section and 38mm deep.
Each frame set uses the Reynolds 853 aero down tube which
has a cross section of 47mm x 30mm and is teardrop in shape.
We use Columbus aero seat stays which are elliptical in shape
25mm x 10mm
This further improves streamlining.
Each frame is fitted with a quality headset with A Head facility
– proven technology.
Construction
All frames are brazed and silver soldered by hand using best
quality materials. Each frame set is hand filed to the high
standards and finally stove enamelled to a high gloss finish. |
