MDT chainring service
Unlike other companies chainrings, MDT rings are fully custom made
to your requirements. Instead of mass production, we can offer a
fully one off product, in fact we are probably the only company
in the world now that can offer this specialist service.
History
MDT chainrings have been used successfully by track cyclists at
Olympic level. Purchased for there accuracy and ultra stiff quality,
making them ideally suited for track sprint events on solo or tandem
machines.
Track ring accuracy
To achieve maximum power transfer to the back wheel, the chainring
needs to be stiff with the minimum amount of lateral flex. Accuracy
of the MDT chainring ensures a smooth interface with the chain,
in fact our rings have shown roundness results to be within 10 micron
oscillation. This is not possible when making chainrings using mass
production methods.
Design
Our tooth profile is distinct and ensures full support for the roller
chain when engaged. The teeth are milled to give a fully functional
appearance. The shoulder profile of the ring faces are high, once
again giving an attractive and also functional appearance.
Technology
Uses
Although our Track rings are mainly used on the velodrome, they
can also be used on a road going fixed gear bike. Time trialist
and hill climbers are always keen to make the most of our products
qualities.
Service unlimited
MDT offers a unique worldwide service. Making custom made chainrings
with the largest possible combination of size and crank arm compatibility.
We maintain we can make for any crank arm on the planet with 3,4
and 5 arms.
Material
Made from S07 –1021 certified aircraft grade alloy, which
offers high strength, excellent lateral stiffness & of course
superb wear rate. We use full CAD & CNC machine facility for
manufacturing all MDT chain rings.

Is my MDT ring compatible with all makes of chain?
Yes, but we advise using a quality chain product.
Should I use a new chain when fitting my MDT ring ?
Using new and replacing chains on a regular basis offers performance
advantages.
Can I use my MDT ring on the inside of the spider in reverse ?
Yes but we would rather discuss this before use
Does the MDT track ring have advantages for time trial use?
Yes, Chris Boardman broke 25 mile competition record on fixed gear.
What difference will I notice with my new MDT track ring ?
You will notice that from a standing start it feels stiffer.
Will it take me long to get used to my Track ring?
No, but the smoothness of transmission will be noticeable
How should I keep my track ring clean ?
Use only none petrochemical cleaners or warm soapy water. You can
also use furniture polish.
